DC has somehow held onto the league's best record, but at one point it
looked as though they'd sweep the individual awards, too (MVP Gomez,
Defender Boswell, and Goalkeeper Perkins). Come to think of it, they
still might.

Carlos Ruiz put one heck of a dagger into his old team yesterday, and
even though he'll never match his 2002 stats, he is having an excellent
year (pks removed from numbers below) ...
2002: 21 goals, 1 assist
2003-05: average 8.3 goals, 3 assists per season
2006: 13 goals, 5 assists

Brad Guzan leads the league in "monster save" shouts from broadcasters,
but he has split time with Preston Burpo this year, and they've each
saved a mediocre 72% of the shots they've faced. Guzan is a talented
young keeper, but they really ought to tone down the hype.

Duncan Oughton and Jason Garey have gotten healthy and solved the
Crew's two biggest problems (ballwinning and finishing) ... with a lot
of young talent, 2007 could be a big year in Columbus.

With this draw, Bruce Arena clinches the second-worst record in MLS
this season.

Rough game for the PA announcer...in the first half when Donnet and
Franchino were given yellow cards, he referred to them as "caution
flags", which is a new one. At halftime they had a "moment of prayer"
for Glenn Myernick, who had a heart attack a few days ago, and the PA
man announced that he had died, before retracting that a few moments
later.

Dempsey looked very good...nice move on the goal and almost scored a
diving header as well. DCU better hope that Eskandarian hasn't used up
his hot streak for the season as this Dyachenko character they've been
playing recently can't score, and neither has Walker.

Gotta put the name Adu on this list, too ... when you're a starting
attacker on a top team, you've got to do better than 2 goals and 6
assists. He's missed four times as many shots as Dyachenko and Walker
combined ... and in my book, Freddy needs to be the one who puts Walker
into more good attacking positions.
