And why is Cancela not playing again?

Totally uinderserved win, completely against the run of play, but a
wonderful volley by Quaranta. Maybe he'll thrive out there?

Now there's a surprise....

Deserved, I think, even if the second PK was a bit of a make up call. the
first missed PK to Razov was very clear. It was hard to believe the ref
missed it.

Now there's a surprise....
If Garlick wasn't a GK, he would have been red-carded at the same time.
After the Rapids scored to get to 3-1 Petke went after the ball in the net.
Scotty Pepper saw this and grabbed the ball first and a scuffle broke out.
Sequeira took a swing and Garlick started shoving Rapids around.

Whatever religion Alex Prus belongs to, I'm signing up. After he failed
to whistle the Razov call, he must've been praying for a chance to give
a make-up ... and as things turned out, the second one was a pretty
legitimate PK on its own.

Getting back to the Sanneh-on-Razov non-PK, I consider it an example of
why divers should be punished ruthlessly. If soccer can reduce the
amount of simulation, then referees will have a much easier time
trusting their judgment on plays like this one.

And finally, getting back to the game itself, I keep expecting the
"real" Fire to show up and start winning games, but heading into the
season's final stretch, they're 11th of MLS's 12 teams. They're too
good for that, aren't they?

KC -- Ryan Pore (unassisted) 89
Martins (5 goals in 276 reserve minutes) and Pore (5 in 283) have both
been outstanding in the reserve league this year, so it's good to see
they're being rewarded.

Speaking of reserve players, now that Brian Ching is injured, Houston
ought to give Chris Wondolowski (9 goals in 672 reserve minutes) a
look. Wondo's a different kind of player from Ching, but he's really
earned a shot. Instead, the Dynamo are looking at Kenny Dalglish's son
Paul, who doesn't exactly seem impressive.

Really ? I thought he was with Hibs this year. Paul Dalglish was
allegedly talented, but never really caught on with Newcastle and
several other clubs. he has been beating around the Scottish league for
a few seasons - Livingston, Dunfermline ? , Hibernian, etc. I would be
surprised if he did well in MLS, but there are precedents (Spencer, for
one)

And speaking of the wee Scotsman, guess who's an assistant coach for Houston
now?

Dalglish is still officially connected to Hibs, but he missed their
game last weekend while trying out with Houston. Reports of a possible
move are linked below. In them, the Herald's Martin McMillan refers to
"Dallas club Houston Dynamo," while the Scotsman's Alan Pattullo refers
to "the Dallas-based Houston Dynamos" ... makes me wonder how the
Edinburgh Celtics will do this year. :-)
