Yeesh. No scoring, Ugly stadium. Sigi hasn't gotten the pieces into
place. Gaven looked dangerous a few times. Nothing Richie Williams can
do with New York's pile of crappy parts.

New England 1
FC Dallas 0

NE -- Taylor Twellman (Clint Dempsey) 23

Well played game. Ronnie O'Brien and Carlos Ruiz are talented but
flakey. Sums up FCD. For all the USMNT fanboy fawning, Stevie Nicol
hasn't won anything.

KC Wizards 2
DC United 3

DC -- Own Goal (Jimmy Conrad) 5
DC -- Freddy Adu (unassisted) 16
KC -- Nick Garcia (unassisted) 20
DC -- Christian Gomez (Jaime Moreno, Freddy Adu) 50
KC -- Jose Burciaga Jr. (penalty kick) 72

Freddy scores! First goal of the season. DC win the road win and is
rolling. No TV because KC is in cost saving mode.Is there any movement
on a stadium for the Wiz or are they headed for the MLS Philly deal?

Chicago Fire 2
Real Salt Lake 1

RSL -- Jason Kreis (Jeff Cunningham) 25
CHI -- Chad Barrett (Justin Mapp, Ivan Guerrero) 80
CHI -- Chad Barrett (Justin Mapp, Zach Thornton) 85

Crazy game. Toyota Park is only three games old but is the best soccer
stadium in the US. RSL had the lead when they took an hour long break
for lightning. At the return the Fire brought on Barrett and move Mapp
to the left wing. The result was two goals and the win.

Chivas USA 1
Houston 1

HOU -- Dwayne De Rosario (Wade Barrett) 55
CHV -- Jesse Marsch (unassisted) 75

Ching played for the first time in forever. Both teams pickup a point
on FC Dallas.

Freddy scores! First goal of the season.
Beautiful strike by Freddy.

Also, Nick Garcia scores! First goal of his career, ironically on the
same day he was going to equal the MLS record for most appearances
without scoring.

On a day of firsts, Mapp finally gets his first two assists of the
season.

Chivas USA 3
FC Dallas 0

CHV -- Claudio Suarez (Juan Pablo Garcia) 20
CHV -- Claudio Suarez (Juan Pablo Garcia) 24

Chivas! I don't rate Dallas. Most likely to collapse in the playoffs.
The west will come down to Houston vs. Chivas.

Kansas City 0
Los Angeles 2

LA -- Landon Donovan (unassisted) 36
LA -- Landon Donovan (Quavas Kirk) 91+

KC -- Jimmy Conrad (ejection; Second Caution) 77

Oh look it's Landon! I wonder where he has been?

New England 3
New York 2

NE -- Clint Dempsey (unassisted) 6
NY -- Edson Buddle (unassisted) 24
NE -- Taylor Twellman (Andy Dorman) 46+
NY -- Mike Magee (Seth Stammler, Edson Buddle) 66
NE -- Clint Dempsey (unassisted) 72

NE -- Avery John (ejection; Violent Conduct) 83

Youri, Youri, Youri. When you call in sick don't get caught on TV at
the friggin' World Cup. Thus ends the Youri Djorkaeff era in New York.
Not sure what else can go wrong for this team but rest assured it will.
The Sam's Army Spazzos want Clint to leave for Europe yesterday. MLS
commish Don Garber needs to lock him as one of the few Americans who
can put butts into seats. Spidey senses say MLS and sponsors will pony
up the coin.

With Ralston and Noonan out, Andy Dorman continues to play a big role
in the Revs' attack -- his crosses set up the first two goals.

At age 24, he's kind of an unusual player. He arrived at New England in
2004 as a little-noticed ex-Welsh youth international who'd attended a
US college. By now, he's established himself as a solid MLS player, so
if he went back to Britain, he could presumably earn quite a bit more
than his current salary of $30,000 per year. All the same, I'm not
aware of any players with a similar career trajectory, so it'll be
interesting to see how things unfold for him.

If any credence can be given to rumors that are now two years old, Mark
Hughes had already
spoken to him about turning out for Wales, when he (Hughes) moved to
Blackburn Rovers.
And, rumors have persisted since that Andy was headed for Rovers.

He's certainly worth more than $30,000 wherever he plays.:-)

6 of 10 goals and 2 of 2 ejections come from returning WC vets.
Excitement brought home not a moment too soon!
